이 작품은 자신이 사랑했던 여자를 불의의 기차 사고로 잃어 버린 한 남자의 기억에 관한 이야기이다. 영화는 트레비스의 시점에서 죽은 야스민을 회상하는 현재와 이들의 만남과 사랑이 주를 이루는 과거 그리고 사고 직후 야스민의 죽음을 부정하고 야스민을 필사적으로 찾아 헤매는 트레비스의 무의식 이러한 세 시제가 교차 되면서 '산 자가 죽은 자를 보내는 과정' 이라는 하나의 이야기를 향해 나아간다.

This movie is about memory of Travis who lost his girlfriend due to a sudden train accident. This story contains two different dimensions; present, imagination of Travis. When Travis recollects Yasmin's death in the present, same Travis denies her death and desperately searches for her in his imagination. This juxtaposition completes the main story of Last Girl Sleeps.

갑작스런 죽음으로 사랑하는 이를 떠나 보낼 때 산자는 죽은 자를 어떻게 보내는가 하는 그러한 방식을 표현하고자 했다. 즉, 죽음을 받아 들이는 산자의 예의 혹은 과정을 현실과 무의식을 오가며 표현하려고 했다.
